Mike is a global director and vice president of the Houston office, where he is responsible for management of the engineering group. Mike has over 19 years’ experience dedicated to riser engineering ranging from conceptual through to detailed design, installation and operational integrity management.
He has authored numerous technical publications including fatigue analysis methods and the use of field measurements to benchmark and improve design tools. Mike is a graduate of the University of Sheffield, UK, and has a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and physics.

Doreen has held roles as a power plant operator, researcher, professor, engineer, oil field operator, leader, and entrepreneur. She has over 35 years of experience in academia, power generation, and oil and gas industries, from deepwater offshore/subsea engineering to onshore shale oil and gas production operations.
Chin serves as Board Member of the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), and an Engineering Leadership Board Member at the University of Houston. She has served as ASME Petroleum Division Chair, OTC Program Committee Chair; ASME Hydraulic Fracturing Conference Chair, ASME Offshore Wind Summit Advisory Committee member and ASME Advanced Clean Energy Summit Program Committee Chair.
Doreen has published one technical book and 51 papers. She has received several SPE Awards, and numerous ASME Awards including three Best Paper Awards. She holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Houston.

In his role, Halsey exercises technical leadership of modeling physics, applied mathematics, technical software engineering, and high-performance computing for ExxonMobil's global hydrocarbon exploration and production research, development, and business activities.
Halsey joined ExxonMobil in 1994 at the Corporate Strategic Research Laboratories in Annandale, NJ. He has served in a variety of research, staff, and management jobs within the company, including Director of the Physical and Mathematical Sciences Laboratory in Annandale and Manager of the Computational Sciences Function at the Upstream Research Company, where he also directed a "breakthrough" innovation program.
From 1984 until 1994, Halsey was a postdoctoral fellow and then a faculty member at the University of Chicago. He received a Ph.D. in physics from Harvard in 1984 and is a Fellow of the American Physical Society.

He has 20 years of experience in design and simulation of subsea drilling and production equipment used in the oil and gas industry. Ed’s experiences and responsibilities involve the management of the Multi-Physics Simulations Group for GE Oil & Gas, FMC Technologies, and Landmark Graphics (Halliburton). In this capacity, Ed was responsible for leading groups of engineering specialists responsible for performing thermal, mass diffusion, and multi-physics analyses on all major systems and sub-system components. At Landmark, Ed was actively involved in Digital Twin development for upstream and production operations for Onshore & Offshore assets.
At the University of Houston, he held the position of Adjunct Professor, both in the Mechanical Engineering Department (ABS Adjunct Professor of Subsea Engineering Program) and the College of Technology. He teaches thermo-fluid sciences, design of experiments, computational methods, and data science.
Ed holds the rank of ASME Fellow, AIAA Associate Fellow; is active in API and ASME technical committees (Offshore Technology Conference), served on several ASME committees, and was an Associate-Editor for the ASME Journal on Transaction of Energy Resources Technology.
Ed Marotta received his B.S. degree in Chemistry from the State University of New York at Albany, Post-Graduate studies in Chemical Engineering at SUNY at Buffalo, and his M.S. and Ph.D. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Texas A&M University.

Burak has over 10 years of experience in the Offshore Industry with a strong technical background in pipeline and riser design, thermal-fluid sciences, structural design and analysis, mechanical components design and FEA / CFD. He previously worked as a Group Technology and Advanced Engineering Director at Wood Group Kenny prior to starting VIAS.
In addition, Burak is an Adjunct Associate Professor at The University of Houston and teaches a course in Pipeline Design in the Mechanical Engineering Department. Burak is a Fellow at IMarEST and a member of ASME where he is serving an acting executive member of the ASME PSD. Burak has produced some twenty-five conference and journal publications.
